JK cement SwachhAbility Run - Taking the mission to Mangaluru

November 9, 2017

With the spirits so high and determination so firm, JK Cement SwachhAbility Run moved to the beautiful city of Mangaluru. We got a chance to take our mission to the place where people believe in embracing goodness, which is why we got an outstanding response from the city.

With a mission to take the message of Swachhta and Inclusion of divyangs as equals to the masses, the participants warmed up with full zeal at the Zumba session. As soon as the run was flagged off, the streets were thronged with enthusiastic people running for a common mission to make India better and inclusive.

59 divyangs joined us in our mission and proved their capabilities to one and all present. We were impressed by the dedication of 1300 school children who displayed their creative side in the form of placards and drawings which was a proof of their immense love for the nation. Nitish Chopra, Head Branding & Communication, JK Cement Ltd, delighted by the wonderful participation of the schools, said “The school participation was phenomenal and we can’t thank you enough for the immense support that you have given to this movement. We hope to take it to the next level.” A total of 1754 people ran together in the favour of Swachh and Inclusive India.

After successfully completing the run, each one of the participants cleaned a designated area and the responsibility to maintain its cleanliness in the future was given to Canara Higher Primary School. The Principal of the school, Lalna J Shenoy said “This road has been handed over to us for keeping it clean. I assure you that we’ll do it wonderfully. “

The selfless contribution of the participants was rewarded at the award ceremony and the prizes were given away to the winner schools as well. The cheerful faces of the people were a proof of a major accomplishment. Major DP Singh once again took the lead and urged everyone to take the pledge of making India cleaner and inclusive. The confident voices were an evidence of the change which SwachhAbility Run is bound to bring in the perception of the people and eventually, in the society. The event culminated with everyone standing up with utter respect to sing the country’s National Anthem.
