November 6, 2017

After being extremely delighted with the overwhelming response from the people of Panjim, JK Cement SwachhAbility Run set its foot in Belagavi on 6th November and it surprised everyone with the volcanic energy and unbeatable enthusiasm.

The Member of Parliament of Belagavi, Suresh Angadi, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He praised the divyangs for their abilities and said, “Children of God…that’s what divyangs are.” Following the early morning Zumba warm up session, Veer Naari, Smt. Nur Jahan Bi flagged off the 10km run along with Nitish Chopra, Head Branding and Communication, JK Cement.

The citizens thronged the streets to participate in the much-anticipated event and to support the mission started by Major DP Singh, the Kargil war veteran whose love for his country has inspired the masses. His vision of making Inclusive India with equal opportunities for all was clubbed with another important aspect of making our country a cleaner, better place to live.

The roads of Belagavi witnessed a magnificent movement of people on a common mission. It was a remarkable experience to see the people brimming with so much excitement and vivacity. Participation of each one of them, especially the school children is deeply appreciated in making the Belagavi chapter of SwachhAbility Run a phenomenal one. 2400 students of 29 schools left us highly astonished with their innovative ideas to spread the message of SwachhAbility and further motivate the people to shoulder the responsibility of building a better India.

We were amazed by the active participation of divyangs which was an eye opener and motivation for all. Kudos to their positive spirit. 100 divyangs overcame all the physical and societal barriers to support the movement. A total of 3517 participants of all age groups and from all walks of life ran unitedly for a common mission.

The participants were all charged up to take on the swachhta drive and so dedicatedly cleaned a designated area. St. Paul’s High School shouldered the responsibility of keeping the swachhta of the area intact even in the future. The selfless efforts of the participants did not go waste as the divyangs, the winner schools and various deserving participants were honoured at the Award Ceremony. Every single voice pledged for a swachh and inclusive society. The resplendent event culminated with the National Anthem being sung in unison by one and all present and instilling in everyone the feelings of pride and love for the nation.
