JK cement SwachhAbility Run - The Third Destination Hubblli

November 7, 2017

After engulfing Panjim and Belagavi in their reach, the waves of SwachhAbility directed towards Hubballi with a remarkable momentum. The sunrise of 7th November in Hubballi saw the enthusiastic participants warming up for the mission, with each breath igniting the lungs to fuel the mind and body for the big day ahead.

Veer Nari Smt. Mahadevi Koppad, W/O martyred Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad, who was miraculously rescued after being buried under 25 feet of snow for six days in Siachen, flagged off the run and with her presence infused the congregation with the feeling of patriotism and selfless love for the nation. The two runs, 10 km and 3 km, had people from all walks of life participating with the desire to bring the change in the society and make it better and inclusive. The spirit of Divyangs and energy of school children was unexpectedly enlightening for everyone. With their vivacity and thrill, they encouraged everyone else to join them.

Leading the force was the one and only man who has inspired everyone with his undying spirit and positive attitude, Major DP Singh. Marching forward with a motive and firm belief that overcoming challenges makes life meaningful, this man of substance has the vision to improve our country for our own people. With his powerful roar, he stirred the participants to put in all their energy and instilled in them the courage and confidence to bring about the desired change in the Indian society.

2400 children from 19 schools became a part of the campaign and added magnificently to the energy quotient of the run. 160 divyangs broke all the shackles of mind and went on to victoriously cover the distances, displaying the strength of the human spirit. A total of 3051 hearts beat faster with a will to run for a cleaner and better society. Running for a better nation and sweating to complete the journey, each one of the participants reached a state of inner swachhta and powerfully radiated the message of equality to everyone around.

The run was followed by a swachhta drive, wherein the participants cleaned a designated site with much dedication; the site was later handed over to JK School, Mrutunjaya Nagar for future maintenance and caretaking. The Principal of the school, Smita Vernekar, proudly said, “It is my privilege and I thank them for considering my school for the project. We promise you that this will be carried on by us.”

The efforts driven with good intentions were applauded at the award ceremony held after the drive. Everybody came forward and united as one to take the SwachhAbility Pledge for a swachh and inclusive society. The whole event concluded with one and all standing together, reverently, for the National Anthem.

With so much zeal and excitement at Hubballi, Team SwachhAbility Run was all charged up for the next destinations.
